After receiving a foot+ of snow two nights ago, we received another foot+ today. I'm at my parents house now, they have power back. They were still in FL as of lastnight so my sister had some friends over,

and my parents friends (without power) came over to watch a football game so there were probably 15 people here. We had mac&cheese for dinner and salad with the only salad dressing that hadn't gone bad during the outage: vinaigrette. We slept the morning away today and got up late to get some breakfast and to a blizzard. We cleared off the car and set out. The usual five minute trip to get bagels took about 20 minutes. We still didn't have a Christmas tree either because we had planned to get one the day the power went out. So Lindsey and I decided we'd get one for the family. Usually we have a family tradition of going to a Christmas tree farm where we walk around, pick a sparse little tree, cut it down and drag it back to our car all as a family.. but it's 4 days til Christmas and we needed to get a move on.. So we went to a store and found the most perfect tree imaginable. Nice and tall, no bald patches, full branches,
perfecttt tree. Then the guy tells us it's an insurance policy that they can't load the tree on our car for us, so Lindsey and I, mind you we both weigh like.. not very much.. are left to load the tree ourselves and get it home (in the midst of a blizzard) with no one to help us. But...
we did it!

I even got a saw at home and cut off the bottom boughs so we could put it in the tree holder. We put the lights on and got it all ready so that when my family got home from the airport we could decorate it together. Then we decorated the whole house with Christmas stuff. They were surprised and really happy when they got back this afternoon to the hassle-free (for them) tree, so that made it all worth it. My mom made us all hot cocoa and we decorated the tree together to Christmas music. I love traditions.
