We got up and had breakfast at 9:30 and had to be packed to move by 10:30. It was a nightmare trying to get down the little tiny elevator with 2 huge suitcases, carry-on's, etc. Everyone was trying to go at the same time so it took over 20 minutes to get a free elevator. We got on a little bus to our apartment and it seemed like a long drive but we finally made it to our building. On the street there are two enormous wooden doors in
to our building. I have to use an electric key to buzz myself in. The doors are really heavy to push. We're right up the street from a popular cafe, bakery and little market(which turns out to be the "supermarket" here.) Our street is near Piazza San Marco, northeast of the Mercato Centrale and north of the Duomo. It takes about 10 minutes walking to get to the Duomo. We're only 10 minutes from the hotel also. After you enter the building, you go up a flight of stairs and through the door onto a brick terrace. It's really big and has clothes lines and a table and chairs. The apartment itself is fairly recently renovated. We have a newer Ikea-style kitchen, and two bathrroms with 3 bedrooms. It's perfect for us. We put our stuff down in the apartment (me, Allie, Melanie, Stef, and Jenny.) Everyone seems really nice. Then we headed out to get stuff for the apartment. On the way I bought a knockoff Burberry scarf tha
t's cashmere for 5 euro. It's purple plaid, love it. Then we headed to the Ikea bus stop. It took a while but it eventually came around 4. The ride was only 15 minutes. I bought a duvet cover, a little carpet, a bathroom rug, some candles and a pillow. We have everything else we need except an OVEN! How weird? We only have a stove and a microwave. We ate a gross dinner at Ikea while we waited for the bus back to our apt. I decided to stay in for the night to unpack, get set up and relax, but I still couldn't fall asleep til 3, ahhh! Btw I get lost going everywhere so I really need to figure that out...
